Biggest audience I've seen in that venue, hands down. Very responsive. Laughed at my limericks (only tripped over my words twice!) and responded to my announcing.
Bo peep didn't get rehearsed with sheep, so that didn't go as planned, but through the act of smiling and shaking it, all was forgiven.
Djinn costume experienced some interesting hang ups, but recieved heartfelt compliments from non sycophants (the best kind). Actually had an audience member come up and ask when I would be performing next, because he thought I was amazing.
This month: Burlesque Brunch (Evil Night Together + classic boa number), 80's show (goth number (!!!!) and ... something else. Jim Thorpe Burlesque festival (Hong Kong Garden).
Gathering together press kit for Black Tassel Boolesque. Setting up Photoshoot and the specifics of "Glitterdome" (2 girls enter, one girl leaves!).
Things I learned from this expereince
- Take care of microphone FIRST
- Make time the day before to run through numbers involving group participation
- during djinn number, after removing bra, make sure fingers find the finger loops before pulling off wings.
- During Bo Peep number, intentionally pull down petticoat when pulling down dress.
- Make sure to have collected cues and go over with DJ previous to showtime
- Buy Carpet Tape
3/16/2010 = One year burlesqaversery. I'm honestly suprised that this is still going on, but plesantly so.
